A phony war record plus an Indian casino can only add up to John Doolittle

As if Roseville’s John Doolittle didn’t have enough trouble along comes this little nugget further implicating the congressman representing California’s fourth congressional district.

It seems a gentleman by the name of Glenn Marshall has claimed to have earned several military honors while serving with the Marines during the Vietnam War. Marshall, is the tribal chairman of Mashpee Wampanoag who is applying to build a Indian resort casino in Massachusetts.

It seems while Marshall did serve in the Marines, there are no records indicating his claims of receiving five Purple Hearts or a Silver Star.

So what is the connection between Marshall and Doolittle?

As one might expect, Doolittle wrote a letter on Marshall’s behalf to then Interior Secretary Gail Norton seeking Federal recognition. What this story did not mention was whether or not the Mashpee was a client of admitted felon Jack Abramoff, a close and trusted associate of Doolittle.

Given both Abramoff and Doolittle’s transgressions, this certainly does not look good.

This certainly cannot help the embattled Congressman, can it?
